The Thunderbird 6 cu ft Aluminum Cylinder is the smallest aluminum pony bottles available. Making it a great choice for a compact bail-out tank. Divers who often travel with their pony bottle select this size to stay light weight and compact. Equipped with the XS Scuba Pro Valve the 13 cu ft pony bottle is a choice. Unlike the other small aluminum pony bottles the Thunderbird 6 cu ft Aluminum Cylinder size fits many after market slings, pouches and pockets.
The Thunderbird 6 cu ft Aluminum Cylinders are made from 6061 alloy, an aluminum magnesium-silicon blend that improves durability and performance. Thunderbird Cylinders are the world's first aluminum scuba cylinders, developed in cooperation with Jacques Cousteau at their facility in Graham, North Carolina. With unmatched expertise, that legacy continues there at Thunderbird. Benefits of all that tried and tested, continued development are improved fracture toughness, resistance to tearing and cracking, corrosion-resistant interior and exteriors. The Thunderbird 6 cu ft Aluminum Cylinders are made to U.S. DOT and Transport Canada standards and every cylinder is inspected and tested by DOT- and TC- authorized independent agencies. There's no doubt to the reliability and durability with DOT and TC requirements tested in excess of 10,000 cycles at test pressures with a minimum burst pressure tested to 2.5 times service.
Service pressure of the Thunderbird 6 cu ft Aluminum Cylinder is 3000 psi / 207 bar with a try capacity of 5.8 cu ft / 0.8 liters. The empty weight of the Thunderbird 6 cu ft Aluminum Cylinder with no valve is 2.7 lbs / 1.2 kg. Outside diameter is 3.2 in / 81 mm and cylinder length with no valve is 10.9 in / 81 mm.
Buoyancy of the Thunderbird 6 cu ft Aluminum Cylinder when completely full is -1.6 lbs / -0.7 kg and gradually increases 0.4 lbs as the pressure decreases down to 500 psi with a total buoyancy of -1.2 lbs / 0.05 kg.
The Thunderbird 6 cu ft Aluminum Cylinder are cleaned for oxygen and oxygen-enriched service at the factory. If you intend to use this cylinder for oxygen or oxygen-enriched service (ie. with any gas combinations of 23.5% or more), all components with the cylinder must be oxygen compatible. It is the responsibility of the cylinder user to ensure that the cylinder and all components are maintained in proper state of oxygen cleanliness in strict accordance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
The Thunderbird 6 cu ft Aluminum Cylinder comes in Yellow only.
All cylinders ship with the freshest possible hydro date. Limited in some models and colors because of high manufacturing quantities and relatively low sales volume. Please understand that aluminum cylinders within 12 month of manufacture date are considered current hydro and not subject to discount.
Every Thunderbird 6 cu ft Aluminum Cylinder comes with a XS Scuba Pro Valve allowing the use of both standard yoke or DIN. With a spin-out DIN insert the valve converts from standard yoke to 230 bar DIN Outlet. The 3/4"-14 NPSM standard inlet threads match with the Thunderbird 6 cu ft Aluminum Cylinders. The XS Scuba Pro Valve is cleaned for pre-blended Nitrox up to 40% oxygen. Equipped with the color indicating handwheel, it's easy to see whether the tank is on or off and with only a 1.5 rotation you can turn the tank fully on or fully off.
